The Finer Points of Unlocking
Every cell phone has a unique unlock code; the code is a unique number only for that particular phone, based on its serial number which is called its IMEI, and the service provider who locked it. By submitting your IMEI number, our systems will generate the specific unlock code for your phone. Once you have received the code you simply enter it into your phone and it will be unlocked. When a cellular phone is purchased from a service provider, it is SIM locked to that provider such that only SIM Cards from that particular provider will work.
By purchasing an unlock code you can then remove the carrier lock placed on your phone. This will enable you to use your phone with any SIM Card, regardless which provider you bought it from. If you are looking to change the wireless provider, but you wish to keep your existing phone, you can do so simply by unlocking the phone.
If there is a specific make/model of phone that you are interested in purchasing, but that phone is not available for use with your existing carrier, by unlocking the phone, it will now be compatible for use with your existing carrier. If you are traveling internationally and don't wish to pay expensive international roaming charges, by unlocking the phone you'll then have the ability to insert a local SIM Card and thus avoid those charges.
